Agnee Unleashed

Mumbai, May 15, 2007: Music enthusiasts in Mumbai were treated to an eventful evening which saw the launch of the debut album of band Agnee who are sure to set a new musical wave in the country. The evening also saw a celebrity audience who were evidently mesmerized by the band’s exhilarating LIVE performance. Agnee, comprising of Mohan, Koko and Arijit entertained their audience and were a treat to the senses. Agnee is the first Indian rock band to have seen a huge celebrated main stream release. The album can be best described as the perfect blend of contemporary musicians and traditional virtuosity.

Agnee’s songs ‘Sadho Re’ and ‘Kabira’ contain lyrics which were written by the great Indian mystic poet Kabir, almost 400 years ago. The music in the album is a celebration of emotions and expressions that are perceived as gloomy and sullen. The album is thought provoking, reflective and introspective and will certainly capture the attention of a thinking mind. Even the video of ‘Sadho Re’ conveys a strong message when it attempts to portray the world from a child’s perspective. The band is a mix of 3 exceptional musicians with diverse backgrounds; Koko with classical rock, Mohan with Hindustani and carnatic music and Arijit with Jazz.

Agnee is a melting pot of musical talent with 3 different individual styles. (Agnee was formed because we jammed with so many musicians). The album is a culmination of the 3 varied musicians and that's why it has influences of different genres. We like to create songs that people can sing and to have performances that our fans will enjoy” says Mohan.

Shridhar Subramaniam, Managing Director, SONY BMG India added “Agnee is not just a mix of 3 brilliant musicians but also collaboration of 3 reputed professionals who have dedicated their careers to music. It is a pleasure to be releasing ‘Agnee’ which is sure to change the Indian rock music circuit”

The album contains eight brilliant tracks that personify Agnee’s musical excellence. The album further comprises of a song which was the title track for MTV roadies. Within the first week of the video release of ‘Sadho Re’ the video has seen over 3000 views on sites like youtube.com.
