Our new official website: www.agneelive.com!

February 16, 2009 – 8:11 pm
Hey everyone, please check out our new official website www.agneelive.com. This site is going to shut down soon, and after that even when you type in agnee.in, you'll be redirected to our official website. This will take some time due to logistics involved, but as of now, you can access us at www.agneelive.com... my blog also shifts there now!

When life throws you a lemon, make lemonade

October 19, 2008 – 2:39 am
The title of this entry is a little misleading.. the blog's really not about that. In fact, it's pretty much just the opposite. This blog entry is about two things. One is the fact that our new website, agneelive.com, will be  up soon (in a week at the most), and the second is that I have been in the company of someone who's inspired me to a great extent today. About the website, there isn't much to write except for the fact that there's a lot to look forward to, like our songs, videos, pictures and blogs. About the individual I met today, there's considerably more. I remember writing a post about terrorism and bomb blasts and how I thought we were (at least I was) apathetic to the condition suffered by people in the midst of the acts.  And I remember that there was just one response (thank you, madge) to this ...

I am a Kolkata Knight Riders fan. Primarily because I’m from Kolkata and have spent most of my life there. Yesterday I was watching the match and was particularly glued to the screen as the situation got grim with us posting a meager total of 133 after our 20 overs were up. It was only natural, then, that I would do everything in my power to make sure we won, even if it meant making sure everyone in the room maintained the same wicket taking position throughout the course of the second inning. I’m glad to say it worked. We finally find ourselves in the top 4 again.   While this huge battle was going on in a house in Malad where we were supposed to record (fat chance of that happening with the IPL going on), and we actually saw the force of persuasion work wonders (my poor band members actually ...

Mohan’s Autobiography

April 25, 2008 – 2:45 pm
Chapter One   I met Tuna…. Almost like the cat brought her in to my house one day. We were jamming with our guitars and some singing was happening when she said she had a friend who sings and called her home as well. In came Mona.   Mona met us and sang. We couldn’t play our guitars. We just heard. She gripped us and never left us after that.   Mona then called in Chinku, who we later learned also went by the name of Arijit. We will devote chapters ahead on the numerous names Chinku has and their origins, but suspect we will never have enough pages to finish that story.   So anyway, Chinku walked into the house. Quiet little fellow with little or no interest in this whole jam situation. And then Mona made him sing. He sang a Dave Matthews cover with his guitar and then a Joe Cocker cover. He was ...

Hey so Rashmi and Anupama… you guys are right, kenkda does mean crab, so you got me there… but Arijit’s only nickname really in use is Chinku… and that’s pretty much what everyone calls him. It’s only when Koko and I have to describe his guitar playing that we use khenkda!   Anupama, the last two lines of Ujale Baaz mean “If paradise were to exist on earth, it is here, it is here, it is here.” Famous lines spoken about Kashmir but used here to describe a general satisfaction with life.   So today’s blog is about a few things. It’s about a tour that we just completed with this company called Emcure Pharmaceutical. Emcure is the only research based company in its league in India and is pretty much going places in the pharma industry and has some extremely knowledgeable and interesting people.   The tour itself was a brilliant experience. We did Lonavla, ...

Hey so now that I’m back to writing on a sort of regular basis, I thought it’s high time I introduced the band to you guys.   So there’s Koko in the band. He’s our lead guitarist. Handlebar moustache and mean demeanor and all that. Koko’s real name is Kaustubh Dhavale (makes him sound like a seriously working 9 to 5 guy, doesn’t it). He apparently changed his name to Koko because it’s “KnockOut, KnockOut”. He was a boxing champ in school. When you see him, you’ll find this very easy to believe.   However, when you hear him sing, you’ll have no connection with the rough exterior. He’s got a sweet, mellifluous, romantic singer sort of voice. And one wonders how such a sweet thing can come out from someone who makes such rowdy noises on the guitar.   Which makes me talk about his guitar. Koko’s usually the one unifying force musically within the ...

Hey all of you, this has to be the worst maintained blog in the whole world. As you might have guessed by my stunning regularity in posting on this website, and the clear absence of my promised autobiography, I really haven’t been able to get this website going as well as it should have (at least so far). But good news is around the corner and hopefully here to stay. There is this bunch of super intelligent guys (who understand technology way better than us musicians do) working on our website at this moment, and have promised us a brilliant website soon. The guys in question are Prateek and Rohit from Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Techcnology (DAIICT) and they’re quite cool, I must say. Speaking of which, I can now come to the reason for writing this blog. Agnee has been touring for a while now, and as a ...

Mohan’s first post

July 15, 2007 – 8:20 pm
Hey so this is my page. This is where you get to know about me. And I get to talk about my favourite subject. Me. I love it. When I started looking at websites a long time ago, I thought it would be really cool to have my own page someday where people would actually visit to know about me. The problem was that I wasn’t really famous when I was 12. And websites at that time were frightfully expensive to have on your own name. So I decided to wait.
